CHARM Roadmap: Strategies for Resilience

Strategies for strengthening resilience in Lake County

This Roadmap highlights a set of strategies to improve resilience to climate-driven events like extreme heat and harmful algal blooms, identified through CHARM Lake County's collaborative, data-informed process. These strategies emerged from surveys, interviews, and the input of the CHARM Lake County Working Group.

Some strategies reflect existing practices that are already proving effective in Lake County but may not be used consistently across organizations or areas of emergency planning and response. Others address unmet needs or gaps in services that were revealed during the data collection process. In some cases, the strategies were proposed directly by participants; in others, they are the result of a synthesis and analysis of community feedback and project findings.

These strategies are intended for entities involved in emergency preparedness and response across county agencies, Tribal governments, nonprofits, and community-based organizations. Some may be more readily integrated into practice, whereas others may require substantial resources, time, or coordination. We hope the strategies offer practical, locally-informed ideas for building more effective systems of resilience that address needs in Lake County, particularly those of vulnerable communities.
