While the Roadmap centers on key vulnerable populations in Lake County, there are other groups in Lake County that are at heightened risk during climate-driven events that we did not focus on explicitly.
Other groups that often face significant barriers to staying safe during extreme heat, wildfires, and other climate emergencies include:
- Children
- Pregnant people
- People with chronic health conditions that are related to mental health or substance use disorders
- People living in institutional settings
- Migrants and undocumented people
While these groups were not the primary focus of our content, they are critically important to consider in emergency planning, public health strategies, and community resilience efforts.
